Film Screening: Schlitz Playhouse: Cowboy 57 (1959)

Come see a unique short film about an average day Westover Air Force Base when it was part of the Strategic Air Command! Cowboy 57 follows a day in the life of a B-52 bomber crew - real officers and airmen living in Chicopee - and features scenes of the city. The crew's pilot hopes to return from his routine mission to watch his daughter's recital at a local school.
Cowboy 57 was featured as an episode of Schlitz Playhouse, an anthology series that ran from 1951 to 1959.
It is narrated by award-winning actor, James Stewart, who served as a U.S. Air Force reserve officer. In fact, just six days after this program was televised, he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General.
